USA 2009

Long long time since my last post, I know... We spent 40 days travelling around USA and Canada. As I sad before, we solved the problem with Canadian visas and we were able to leave on the 20th August for London and Calgary.
Four men took a part in this trip - Zdeněk Exner (my dad and the main leader), Mirek Rezek and his son Filip Rezek (our friends) and me. We borrowed the car (Toyota RAV4) from our very good friend Jiri Schornik (one of my father's schoolmates) who lives in Calgary. I have to express thanks to him at first place because without his generous help we would not manage to do all that.
We went through many of the US western national parks during our journey, including Glacier NP, Badlands NP, Custer SP, Yellowstone NP, Grand Teton NP, Bryce canyon NP, Zion NP, Canyonlands NP, Arches NP, Grandcanyon NP, Redwood NP, Crater Lake NP. We also climbed the highest peak of the USA Mt Whitney; 4418m = 14 497 feet(not including Alaska with its highest Mt. McKinley which is over 6000m). We visited some of the famous cities - Salt Lake City, Las Vegas and San Francisco. During that journey we met several wild animals like moose, elk, grizzly bear and black bear, coyote, buffalos, ever-present prairie dogs and more. I will reveal only that we drove 12 000 km, made many one-day hikes to the mountains and we flew on the helicopter above the Grandcanyon as mentioning lifetime experience. Smrk 2009

Last year we went to the highest peak of the Jizera mountains with my friends to overnight there. It was right after our school leaving exams and we decided to make a traditon out of it. We just had to do it one month later this year. Here are some photographs of the beautiful sunset.

When we got back, I went home through the center of Liberec. I took some pictures of rebuilding the heart of our city. I hate what they are doing but I have to admit that I would keep that view of Ještěd from the Pražská street (without the cranes of course).

Austria - Hochschneeberg 2009

2009..that's the year in which Canada started requiring visas from czech citizens again. Because of our incoming holiday in Canada and USA I had to go for a short trip to Vienna to get that visas for us. Eventually it was the easiest part of that trip.
